DonTronics is an Australian Based Company, with around 70 to 80 percent of all sales now outside Australia. We have Distributors in many countries, and a great number of our prices are now expressed in approximate US Dollars for your convenience. As we can only charge in Australian Dollars  (AUD), check The Universal Currency Converter for the current exchange rate to calculate the cost in AUD,  then round this  up to the nearest Australian Dollar. This is the price you will be charged on your credit card.

Air Mail delivery delays to International destinations varies, however we normally quote 8 to 14 days. We know South Africa may be 3 to 4 weeks. Don't know why. We can match and sometimes better manufacturers prices on "Manual and Disk" Software to International destinations.  English not your first language? The customer always comes first at DonTronics. We don't send you something unless we are sure of your ordering instructions.

Our large Third Party Product range includes many hardware and software items for PICmicro and Atmel MicroControllers, and other Electronic related items, however the only product that DonTronics actually manufactures and distributes is the DT series of SimmStick Printed Circuit Boards.

RENTRON's Inaugural Featured Microcontroller Site of the Month.

From Robert Nansel's Amateur Robotics Notebook Column, Nuts & Volts magazine August-98:

"I'm very impressed with the whole SimmStick concept. I like the price, the form factor, and - more importantly - I like the DIY spirit of the whole enterprise and its international character". See December -98 edition also.

From Myke Predko's "Programming and Customizing the 8051 Microcontroller",  by McGraw-Hill 1999:
"One of the most useful products to come along  for developing Fast Microcontroller applications (either for hobbyists or industrial applications) is the SimmStick cards and bus. This system of cards will provide you with a basis for electrically wiring a microcontroller into an application. I have used SimmSticks for a number of applications, and I can usually wire an application in under an hour".

I can't get over how easy those simmsticks are to use!  Just snap 'em in, and click em out!  Phenomenal!

People seem to stumble onto this page and miss some of the main points. What is SimmStick?

DonTronics welcomes your input for new SimmSick designs.

Scenix Micro on a SimmStick Contest99 Entry.

Please don't ask for a catalog, this is the catalog. There is no printed material, disks, CD-Rom, only this web page. Some links to us suggest we sell general Electronic items. Sorry, we only sell the items listed in these pages.

We no longer do any design work unless it is to enhance the SimmStick range. We steer clear of importing hardware into Australia to re-sell. The antiquated Australian Customs rules, costs, and delays, are no fun at all. (Don would rather be sitting on a beach than a bench.)

The picture at the top of the page is the  DT101 bare printed circuit board and is available in a one off at around $6USD. For minimum orders of around $15USD on bare boards, postage is free.

The DonTronics DT001 board is a SimmStick platform and cheap printer port programmer for the DT101 SimmStick. It has a 4PDT switch which allows you to program a PIC16C/F84 in a SimmStick and run the program straight away. Yes, a load and go operation. This means you don't have to move the PIC16F84 chip from the programmer to a target board as they are one and the same. LOAD/RUN. Straight away!! Who else sells a PIC16F84  Programmer that will do that??? Hey, we can even do it now with the new all flash PIC16F877 40 pin chips. See: DT106

The DT001 can easily be configured to program PIC12C508/9 Micros, and many other types of PICmicro devices.

SimmSticks for   Micros, both AVR and non-AVR. See the DT206 AT89C2051 cheap DIY programmer, and Bascomlt which is a 99% QBasic compatible $49USD compiler for many micros. Bascomlt has a list server chat group, and is the best Author supported compiler you will find bar none. Also the assembled and tested X-Programmer: Atmel Microcontroller SPI Programmer the cost effective solution for SPI programming all of the currently available AT89Sxxxx and AT90Sxxxx series devices straight from your serial port using a terminal program and has many advanced features not found in other programmers.

Have a look at pickaxe.html for a hardware list of components to get started with programming the PIC16F84.
You don't need to purchase compilers to get to the LED flashing stage.

A short list of People that have stolen from DonTronics
DonTronics Pages Duplicated:
DonTronics goes to great lengths to provide new and interesting material for visitors. It has been found in recent months that other Webmasters are duplicating material that has already been presented here. This may be with, or without the permission of the original Author. If you see a copy of the following files or pages, you will know DonTronics was responsible for the initial  release, and the others are simply copies. It would be nice if these people did their own ground work, and put in the time to get new material, and not benefit from the time and effort that DonTronics has already invested to make this a better site.
