Software will Program: 16C61,C62,C63,C64, C65,C71,C73,C74,C84,C620,C621, and C622. Some devices need adapter boards, however the SimmStick structure allows for these differences. There is a text file Hardware Hints that explains how to make your own adapter boards very simply.
There are three outputs from this board. An 18 pin ZIF or machine pin socket on board for stand-alone programming, a 10 pin IDC header that connects via the Program/Run switch to a suitable target board such as my PIGMY board for 'In-Circuit' programming, as well as the SimmStick Bus Development platform.
This programmer is based on an original idea by David Tait. The 'In-Circuit' 10 pin IDC header layout on this board and my matching PIGMY board is the same as the configuration first used by Dr. Russ Reiss in his PICSPA84 board design.
If you can handle programming in machine code then this is the starting point to lunge into PIC MicroControllers. A single chip Micro that is cheap and can be re-programmed thousands of times. Software Assemblers and Simulators are available for free from the MicroChip and Parallax Internet sites.
This board is available at $35AUD. Price includes International Air Mail postage providing only the board, circuit and overlay is required.

Very fast Pascal. 84 Disassembler built-in. PIC84PGM Version 1.05 by Nigel
Goodwin 1995
This software is copyright Nigel Goodwin 1995, but may be freely distributed
for non-commercial use. Nigel may be contacted via the Internet as 'nigelg@lpilsley.demon.co.uk'.
Here is what Nigel says about this project:
"Many thanks to David Tait for the original design, and to Don
McKenzie for supplying high-quality PCB's for building the
programmer circuit on. If you're wanting to start programming
PIC 16C84's the combination of Don's programmer board and PIGMY
board make an excellent development system for very little money".

16CXX PRINTER PORT PIC PROGRAMMER By Ken Segler of CyberTech Computer Works
4308 YORKWOOD DR. NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV 89030
Tato Computers Web link is another source of software that runs on the DonTronics programmer without hardware changes.
It's a very nice User Interface that runs under Windows. Programs 61,62,62A,620,621,622,63,63A,64,64A,65,65A,71,72,73,74,and the 84.
As the DonTronis Programmer has only the 18 pin socket, an adapter cable and 40 pin Aries ZIF socket is required to program the others. This is detailed on the Promo disk and my home page.
Notice the two VPP supplies on the gif file provided with the above software. Your cicuit will need to line up with these changes.
The easiest way to line up the appropriate printer port pins is to make an adapter cable to swap the lines in question. There is a little plastic breakout box around that suits this job nicely. It has a male DB-25 connector one end and a female the other.
SiStudios has the 'DONMCK.EXE' version PINAPI(tm) driver for their PIP-02 front end. (PIN Application Programming Interface). This covers front ends for MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95. This company has many other PIC related items of interest including the full range of SimmStick Products.
All additional ASCII text Circuits, Overlays,
etc.
Relay Board Connection.
Using PIC Pins for both Input and Output.
Networking the PICEX Serial Controller.
PIGMY Board Pinout for Basic Stamp 1 Interpreter Chip.
PIGMY Board Pinout for 18 and 28 pin PIC Chips.
FED Basic MAX-232 Connection.
FED Basic Cheap Comms. Connection.
Suitable Relays for Relay Board.
Binary to Decimal to Hex Converter Chart.
These files must be printed in IBM Printer Compatible Graphics Mode.
IBM graphic characters were used for Box drawing and circuits etc. Your
Web Browser will display some garbage characters at these locations. At
this stage I don't intend to re-write these for Web use, so if you really
need to view ciruits, etc., load the file into a suitable WP. Dos-Lynx
will view and print these correctly.
Currently, I would also like Pascal and C drivers for my PICEX and PIPEX boards so that these can be passed on. Somebody must have done this by now.
