The DT001 board has 3 outputs. (1) 18 pin socket. (2) 10 pin IDC flat ribbon cable to a suitable target board via a 4PDT switch which is used for instant Load and Run. (3) To a 30 pin SimmStick using the Load/Run Feature. This is very much like what an EPROM Emulator is to an older micro. To my knowledge, I have the only kit that supports this Program/Go feature.
The programmer suits many chips not just the 84, and so does the SimmStick family, so you'll need to read the text about these. If you can learn to program in Machine language, you don't need much more than the above. I have "BASIC LANGUAGE" Interpreter and Compiler alternatives if you need them.
Check the Dontronics "Manual and Disk" prices
page for full pricing calculations.
And check out the Dontronics Upgrade price from Standard PicBasic to
the PRO version of PicBasic.
I also have a BS-1 work-alike. See bs4.html for additional info. This allows you to burn an 84 with a Basic Interpreter, and download 64 basic tokens. I call this a BS-1/4, as it is 1/4 of the size of the original BS-1.
Once again, have a look at Pic-Axe for component
grouped prices. WWW Deal 1:
Here is an Introductory deal that is available World Wide:
A DT001 PCB, $35AUD, a DT101 PCB $8AUD, Free support via the
Si-User List server, Free AirMail postage.
Total $43AUD.
I can post this off as an Air Mail letter with the two boards and a sheet of paper that has the DT boards overlays and schematics. If additional disks, paper work, or anything else is required, then postal charges must be added. (Usually $5 to $10). You must be able to get all the PDF and other files from my home page as no disks are included with this deal.
This will allow you to run a Basic Interpreter using only a PIC16C84 and a DT101 SimmStickTM compatible module.
The MicroChip PIC16x84/04/P is an 18 pin DIP single
chip MicroController available at a small price, even in single quantities.
It can be re-programmed thousands of times, each time in a few seconds
with very cheap Printer Port driven hardware (basically a 7407 and power
supply) and free software. It's featured over and over on this home page
and is considered the starting point for most PIC related projects. It
can be run in a minimal configuration with just a power source and a single
resistor and capacitor. My stock of PIC16C84 Micros has now run out and
I only provide PIC16F84 Micros. The main difference is the power up timer
bit. Simply invert this bit for programming the 'F' series. Code protect
bits are also different, however for most novice applications, this can
be ignored.
